I was invited to a lunch on Monday at Groot Constantia – a gorgeous wine estate in Cape Town. Needless to say I used to work at Jonkershuis back in the day (only like a year ago so I don’t know why I said it like that)
I arrived to see my fellow Safari Tart – Carrie Hampton waiting for me at a table. I ordered a glass of the Constantia Rood (after greeting all my friends that work there still – apparently we had been put down as VIP, not going to lie, I felt like a boss)
I love Constantia, well I love all the wine farms in Cape Town they feel like you are miles away from everything, but close enough that you don’t have to pack a lunch to drive there.
I had the mussels to start – I love mussels cause it is something I never make at home and these were the ultimate treat. Carrie had the Snoek Pate – which looked delicious.
For mains, I had Smokey Bacon and Mushroom Pasta – Viva Italy Viva.
Carrie had the 250g Fillet – slightly jealous but my pasta was the business!
For dessert we shared the baked cheesecake… it was a religious experience. I could have eaten a whole cake (I would have died, but from happiness, but the Diabetes)
If you are in Cape Town… GO to Jonkershuis and Groot Constantia!
